This impressive defensive structure was built by Rana Kumbha of Mewar on a hill that was 3,500 feet (1,100 metres) high and overlooked the approaches from Ajmer and Marwar. It is among the best illustrations of a defensive fortress in all of India, not just Rajasthan. Approximately 15 km of majestically thick wall encircles the Kumbhalgarh fort. Haldighati has a significant historical significance for India. The Kingdom of Mewar and the Mughal Army under the command of King Mansingh engaged in combat in the Battle of Haldighati on June 18, 1576. The Mewari army was commanded by Maharana Pratap and engaged the Mughals. Actually, the Rajputana honour was at stake in the Haldighati battle. Akbar was accompanied by a number of strong Rajasthani monarchs, notably those of Jaipur, Bikaner, and Boondi. By mocking them and implying that they had handed their daughters and sisters to Akbar in exchange for peace, Rana Pratap had already alienated them. The Maharana Pratap Museum, Haldighati, a creative museum honouring the legendary Maharana, opened its doors in 2003. To give you all the knowledge on the Great Legend Maharana Pratap, they did their best. To transport you back to that location, nearly everything has been depicted, and every angle has been covered. The number of rats (they look like rats but aren't truly rats) that are in the temple will make any normal person shiver with fear. The remarkable thing about these Kabas, though, is that they play around in the temple without bothering the worshippers. Instead, they occupy devotees' laps, shoulders, hands, and heads, which the devotees believe to be endowed with the Goddess' graces and a supernatural spirit. Despite being countless, these Kabas are magnificent in that they never leave the bounds of the temple.
