Day 1 Drive From Delhi To Agra 8 Stops
1 Humayun's Tomb
Your tour will begin at 8 AM with a meeting with your guide at your preferred location in Delhi, Gurugram, or Noida. Your first stop will be at Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1569-1570. This tomb is the second Mughal Emperor Humayun's tomb, and it is the best illustration of Mughal construction.It established a standard for succeeding Mughal architecture and its superb Charbagh garden. A Persian garden style is never before seen in India yet typical of Persian gardens, The Taj Mahal, which is more well known, was built as an inspiration for Humayun's tomb a century after it was built.
2 Red Fort
The Red Fort, located in Old Delhi, is a historic fort that has served as a power center for many centuries. Built by the Mughals in the 17th century, it witnessed the rise and fall of numerous civilisations. Though the fort was heavily damaged by the British during their rule, it remains a significant site in Indian history. On Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India delivers a speech from the ramparts of the fort and raises the national flag at the main entrance. However, if you are looking for a well-preserved replica of the Red Fort, you should visit the Fort in Agra.
3 Friday Mosque (Jama Masjid)
Another important historical site in Old Delhi is the Jama Masjid, the Friday Mosque. Constructed by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656, it is one of the largest mosques in India. The courtyard of the mosque can hold over 25,000 people. If you plan to visit the mosque, it is recommended that males wear full trousers and ladies wear dresses with full sleeves to cover their arms.
4 Chandni Chowk
Chandni Chowk, also known as Moonlight Square, is a bustling market in Old Delhi. It has been around for three centuries and is known for its wide variety of spices, dried fruits, silver jewelry, and festive saris. Visitors can stroll through the market's narrow side streets, filled with shops selling traditional Indian sweets, essential oils, and stationery. Taking a rickshaw ride through the market is also a popular activity.
5 Gurudwara Bangla Sahib
After exploring the historical sites and markets of Old Delhi, you can head to Connaught Place in the city center for lunch. There, you will find the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a prominent Sikh temple. The temple complex features a beautiful white building with two golden domes and a pool where pilgrims bathe before entering.Inside the temple, visitors can meditate on the sacred Gurbani rhymes and enjoy a meal in the communal kitchen, which serves free food to all visitors regardless of religion, caste, or creed. If you're interested, you can even participate in preparing traditional Indian bread (Roti or Chapati).
6 India Gate
India Gate, located in New Delhi, is a military memorial built in 1931 to commemorate the 70,000 British Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. The 42-meter-high archway, similar to the Arc de Triomphe, also honors more than 13,516 British and Indian soldiers who died on the Northwestern Frontier during the Afghan War of 1919.
7 Rashtrapati Bhavan
After visiting India Gate, you can drive through the Presidential Palace and other parliamentary buildings. These structures, which were built between 1920 and 1940, were designed by Sir Edwin Luyten and his team as part of the plan to move the capital of British India from Calcutta to Delhi.The President's House, also known as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, is the official residence of the President of India and is one of the most important buildings in the complex. Other significant buildings in the complex include the Parliament House and the North and South Blocks, which house the offices of government ministers and officials.
8 Agra
After a busy day exploring the sites of Delhi, you can travel to Agra, located about 210 kilometers from Delhi. The city, once the capital of India under the Mughals, is home to the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and other famous monuments and heritage sites. The drive is expected to take around 4 hours, depending on traffic.
Day 2 Drive From Agra To Delhi 3 Stops
1 Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal, located in Agra, is one of the most famous and iconic landmarks in India. The tour guide will take you early in the morning to see the sunrise over the monument, which is a breathtaking sight as the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors and the structure's marble reflects the light.The Taj Mahal was built between 1631 and 1653 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a tomb for his beloved queen, and it has been enchanting visitors from all over the world for centuries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it is closed to visitors every Friday. So, if your visit is scheduled for a Friday, plan to go the day before.
2 Agra Fort
After a healthy breakfast, you will check out of your accommodation and visit the Agra Fort, also known as the Red Fort of Agra, with your tour guide. The fort served as the primary residence of the Mughal Emperors until the capital was moved to Delhi in 1638. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to several palaces built by different kings.Some of the most notable structures within the fort complex include the Akbar Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, Palace of Roshan Ara, Diwan-e-Am, Diwan-e-Khas, and Moti Masjid. One of the most impressive locations inside the fort is the Muthamman Burj, also known as the Shahjahani Mahal, which was built by Emperor Shah Jahan, the same emperor who built the Taj Mahal.
3 New Delhi
After the visit, you will drive to Delhi, to the location you choose, Noida or Gurugram.
